Carpet will definitely add to the beauty of your interiors and keeping them clean is really a challenging job. Carpet cleaning is a task which requires a lot of patience and expertise to be done correctly. A clean carpet will make any size room look very neat.

There are three primary methods used in carpet cleaning; Hot water extraction, very low moisture cleaning and dry cleaning. Before beginning the process of carpet cleaning it always advisable to consult with a reputable company; which will help you select a suitable method to clean your carpet. Many companies are available today in the market which can be used for carpet cleaning.

The dry cleaning method for cleaning carpets is done in this manner. Chemical cleansers are used to extract dirt. You can do this dry cleaning by three methods; using dry foam, dry chemicals or dry compounds. In dry foam method, usually shampoo is applied to carpet then it is dried, and vacuumed. This brings the dirt up with the dried foam. In Dry chemical method; some cleansing solution is applied to the carpet and then a machine spins a large bonnet from side to side to absorb dirt from carpet. This process is continued until the bonnet is saturated with dirt and then it is replaced. In Dry compound method; an absorbent mixture that looks much like sawdust is spread on carpet, the machine then brushes the mixture into carpet which absorb the dirt. Once that mixture is dried then it is vacuumed out to remove dirt.

Hot water extraction method is the second method for carpet cleaning. This method is also called Warm water extraction or steam cleaning. Many carpet manufactures and carpet cleaners still recommend this method.

In this hot water extraction method, water forced deep into the carpet using a high pressure spray. Then the water is sucked up by the vacuum slot as soon as it comes out of the carpet. This process consists of spraying detergent or just water into carpet pile and recovering the water and soil with a powerful vacuum into a holding tank. This system can be mounted on a truck or you can have small portable cleaning system inside the home. It is advisable to use truck mounted system as dirt and humidity are exhausted, otherwise it then re-circulates around house. Truck mounted cleaning systems are thought to be more efficient and effective than small portable systems but with better technology many portable systems can be just as efficient.

Very low moisture carpet cleaning is the third method. Very similar to the dry cleaning method it uses a rotary or oscillating pad machine to clean your carpets. A cleaning solution is first sprayed into your carpets to loosen and absorb the dirt and then a deep pile cotton or synthetic pad is used to absorb the dirt from the carpet. The main difference between this method and the dry method is the pads have been soaking in either a detergent solution or plain water to help in the dirt absorption process. This helps to get your carpets cleaner than the dry method and also drastically cuts the drying time as compared to the hot water extraction method.

Clean your carpet before it gets too dirty. Carpet cleaning must be done once every 10-12 months depending on the number of residents, type of activities, number of kids and of course depending on the color of the carpet as to whether it is light or dark. Be aware that even though dark carpets do not show the dirt as much as light shades the carpet is still dirty and to save wear and tear on your carpet it still needs cleaning.
